St1 enters the biogas market in Norway

The energy company St1 Norge AS will together with Nor-log Gruppen and Knapphus Energi join a tripartite collaboration that will build a network of filling points for biogas in Norway.

St1 Norge AS, a subsidiary of the Nordic energy company St1 Nordic Oy, has signed an agreement with Knapphus og Biogrønn AS to purchase 33.33 % of the shares in the company Biogas Energi Aksdal AS. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval.

St1's entry into the Norwegian biogas market takes place one week after the acquisition of E.ON Biofor AB, producer and seller of biogas for transport use in Sweden with a market share of around 30%.

The company that will now build infrastructure for biogas in Norway is a collaboration between the heavy transport operator Nor-log Gruppen which has bought gas-powered trucks, and requires a robust network of filling points, the energy supplier St1 who takes a position in the Norwegian biogas market, and Knapphus Energi who has long experience with the operation of energy stations.

“In St1, we have a vision to be the leading producer and seller of CO2-aware energy, and the fact that we are now investing in building a network of filling points for biogas in Norway is in line with our vision. It is exciting to be part of a team that contributes to the transition of the energy sector, while ensuring profitability. This is how we must work to solve the global energy challenges we face”, says Kristine Grant-Carlsen, CEO of St1 Norge AS.
